Check those instructions again, should be talking about ABS. Acetone doesn't eat away PLA, in my experience it only effects it when dunked and even then it just bleaches the color and makes it sort of spongey. Not change in shape.by MrDoctorDIV - Printing
That one is made for pick-and--place type, if you implemented that on a gantry your motors would have to be mounted to an axis, removing the entire point of H-Bot. Fabtotum's CoreXY mod is what I've found best. Simple and effective.by MrDoctorDIV - Mechanics
As to actual current use, not sure. But it is a change of pace in software development, where I've seen people developing higher axis printers but they always stop at the lack of software to drive it. I'm not saying what they have right now will innovate everything we know, but I see that there is finally some development on the software side that could open doors for higher axis printers.by MrDoctorDIV - General
Check that your extruder stepper driver is proper tuned, when I switched to using higher grade filament I had to increase power to my motor by a tad.by MrDoctorDIV - Printing
I don't know about plain ABS, but my ABS/PA alloy is very, very soft and a bit flexible, especially in filament form. My first attemps resulted in 5 jams within a few minutes. I quickly found it was almost purely temp, and I am printing on my E3D at 270C and no lower. Could be the PA that makes the difference, but just giving that for comparison. Ever since I raised it to 270C I haven't come closby MrDoctorDIV - Printing
Just throwing it out there that your name and post title make me weary of replying Make sure you have the proper steps per mm set in your firmware, and make sure you're taking into account your microstepping. Based on the normal spec, you have 16 tooth, GT2 pulleys? Standard motors with 1/16th stepping set on drivers will run you 100 steps/mm.by MrDoctorDIV - Stepper Motors, Servo Motors, DC Motors
My ideal auto-extinguisher would be four CO2 cartridges placed around my printer that blow all over when fire is detected, all electronic sources being shut off as well.by MrDoctorDIV - Safety & Best Practices
I've got the E3D v5 and I've hit 380C with the stock thermistor. Maybe it's a hit and miss quality thing. Still works weeks later. Reports samish temp of bed thermistor at cold, so I assume it's temp reporting hasn't changed.by MrDoctorDIV - Safety & Best Practices
So apparently Topolabs has thought of a simple concept and actually put work into it. That's how we move foward, right? Simplicity is my game, it's what innovates. Just a "matter" of thinking it up. Rather than just 2D layers their software is creating 3D paths for stronger, more aesthetically pleasing prints. Something I've been waiting to happen, so this really harmonizes with me in all ways.by MrDoctorDIV - General
Yeah, that's definitely a micro infill. What slicer are you using? You should be able to control the speed of the small gap infill so it can make better moves. Linear rails have a thing for bouncing on rapid movement. It may be putting out the right amount of plastic, but the bouncing is putting out the plastic higher than it should be. Use acceleration control to reduce the backlashing.by MrDoctorDIV - General Mendel Topics

That's called a zigzag infill. It's used to fill small areas that are just above your extrusion width, but too small for full speed, standard infill. Properly calibrated extrusions steps/mm, flow rate, speed, and acceleration will mitigate the raising of material. It is tricky to work with and I haven't found or read any specific working ways to make it smooth beyond making sure your printer is wby MrDoctorDIV - General Mendel Topics
TLDR, and don't even know what the MB hotend looks like. Just throwing out a thought while I have it- could it be that it is bad at spreading heat, and as you push through filament it is cooling it too fast for the heat to catch up and keep melting filament? When you push it through by hand until it stops, can you wait and then resume ? Before posting I decided to read a bit more. ABS would giveby MrDoctorDIV - Printing
Heated bed all the way, I've got one and I print almost exclusively PLA, it helps much. PLA doesn't naturally degrade. It's biodegradable, but only in specific circumstances. Only degrades in this way if you reach too high of a temp. I believe it will become brittle, but I don't know for sure. Never had to go high enough to reach that point.by MrDoctorDIV - General
I looked closely at the Portabee when I was originally looking for my first printer to buy. To be honest, glad I didn't take that route. Hey! A few of those have me in them! Sometimes I forget I've actually helped people around here. Other times I remember that too well and feel either entitled or like I'm smarter than others . When you raise the temp, are you also raising the temp in your slicby MrDoctorDIV - Printing
The only advantage I see in this is a more scalable Z-axis, but a Delta can already do that much. Maybe even go so far as to say a faster Z-axis will allow a higher Z lift on retract for more impact avoidance on move. I find what I can do with my cartesian most sufficient for that, though.by MrDoctorDIV - Delta Machines
QuoteCellJeffe However, the design does have the advantage of only 3 motors for full X-Y I know of more 3 motor cartesians than 4 motor, where are you grabbing this information? I've got a 3 motor cart. myself and have no issue related to not enough motors. QuoteCellJeffe The other advantage is that with a much lighter Z axis, it can use belts or even rack and pinion drive on the Z axis insteadby MrDoctorDIV - Delta Machines
I didn't buy a RepRap originally, but I am in the process of designing and building my own. Total cost is looking to be around $2000. i3's run anywhere between $600-$1000. Stay away from the cheap ones and make sure they have good rails. Bad parts are more common in kits than good ones. Do your research research research before you buy a specific kit. One good kit doesn't make a good company, andby MrDoctorDIV - General
ABS can take higher temps , but PLA has a shorter span before it starts to crystalize and degrade.by MrDoctorDIV - General
Define expensive? It's 3D printing. Industrial printers can run for millions upon millions and require other specialized equipment to get the product out and clean. 3D printer prices are continually reaching lower and lower prices. Take a kit and start looking up each component. Add up their prices. Likely going to cost you more simply because they have purchased in bulk to lower price per kit, uby MrDoctorDIV - General

Make sure you have the right baud rate set, most common issue. I've got a Solidoodle 3, but I've since used two different boards on it. Baud rate was always the connection issue for me. If you already have the correct setting, then I don't know much else to help you with.by MrDoctorDIV - Repetier
With their new configuration tool, inverting an axis is quite, quite easy. You can just upload your current configuration.h and just change the inversion of that axis. If how you've changed it somehow doesn't match well it isn't too hard to set up from scratch.by MrDoctorDIV - Repetier
