I have a smoke detector module whos output is just a switched relay NO/c/NC. Is there a way to get marlin to stop printing and shut off all motors and heaters should the smoke detector be triggered? I'm not sure where to ask this as it is both Marlin and Ramps 1.4 related.by GRAYWOLF - Firmware - Marlin
I am working on my own printer and have one of these version of the mega sat doing nothing https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoBoardMegaADK Will marlin work on it as it based on a normal mega? Sorry, silly question, but something I don't know where to the look for the answer to.by GRAYWOLF - Firmware - Marlin
Quotegeorge4657 You don't say how you are going to generate your code but there should be a spot to enter your startup code . Thank you for taking the time to answer. I did post that that I'm using inkscape +photonics extension, but not that i'm using the latest marlin firmware. Sorry for the questions but I have spent over a week googling and reading JPhotonics pages and still confused how it works. I have ordered a 1W blue laser+housing to use as my trial laser and understand that I should connect it to D9 via a Lm317 module and use inkscape to generate the gcode (I have the latest inkscape with the jphotonics gcode tool installed) I still feel confused on it operatiby GRAYWOLF - Laser Cutter Working Group
Where do you come from? If you just want to just print then get a prebuilt machine. If you want learn, get angry and confused, get a kit. Do you want a Delta style or a Prusa style?by GRAYWOLF - General
Dunno what the long term issues could be but when printing abs, if you chuck slurry on this then the print will stick amazingly. BTW had to use slurry and I'm not getting any adhesion atm (i think it is because I can't get the bed temps up high.by GRAYWOLF - General
A microswitch on a antiwobble bracket that sits under the left hand side of the printer Its this printer - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:707109/#filesby GRAYWOLF - Prusa i3 and variants
A good question.. It uses a microswitch, but doesn't trigger any more since firmware update. I can't find an option to trigger it unless i'm missiing an "M" codeby GRAYWOLF - Prusa i3 and variants
Solved the offset issue, the bed has shifted to over 3.5mm! Don't have an image of the latest print but it seams to have missed a line on the top surface. Doesn't matter in this case as it was a test to see if I could make a mounting plate for the smoke detector module.by GRAYWOLF - General
This morning i made a 3hr print and ignoring the normal abs issues it printed out. I leave it about an hour, go to print and the head is clicking because the hotened is to low??? Has anyone else had this and solved it? Ran printrun and getting z= -1.74? so confused. I have added the G-code file im trying to print. it is for a DYP-ME0010-A smoke detector and is part of a project i am work onby GRAYWOLF - Prusa i3 and variants
QuotePhytone I find that once a week, a clean with acetone brings it back to full grip. Um, didn't get the print to stick after that! QuoteOrigamib Judging by that picture you posted, you have some major over extrusion problems. Try knocking back the flow rate by 10%, see what happens and then adjust it in increments up/down depending on the result. In my experience, printbite doesn't like oby GRAYWOLF - General
One fail to hold print! For some reason no matter what I try (printbite included) the Prusa i3 X-Axis tensioner will not stay stuck to the platform! The part isn't ruined and is usable but some of the low layers are curved. Apart from that, everything has stayed attached!by GRAYWOLF - General
Well, certenly works as advertised. ABS 100 (actual = 91.8 according to thermometer) hotend 240 (231ish) No tape, glue or slurry. Perfect print, no lift.by GRAYWOLF - General

QuoteCourage Can someone help me with the right ABS cura / mendel setting for a smooth surface printing? I have not been able to get it right since I started. Thanks What do you mean? Due to the nature of printing i don't think it is possible to get a smooth surface without after printing work.by GRAYWOLF - Prusa i3 and variants
Can't get the heatbed above 103, ned to bring the box in.by GRAYWOLF - General
Quoteetfrench Quotedeckingman Quotecozmicray Look at cpu thermal paste --- usually a silver oxide or silver paste specifically formulated for heat transfer. Extract from the link above: "Specifications: Extended Temperature Limits: Peak: –50°C to >180°C Long-Term: –50°C to 130°C" Looks just the job for a heater cartridge where filaments need to be heated to between about 190 and 28by GRAYWOLF - General
That was how my deamon printer gained the name smoky! Put the temps up, set it to print, the hotend cables snagged pulling out the thermistor and smoking out the houseby GRAYWOLF - General
QuoteDarkReeper I have a prusa i3 plus and was experiencing issues with the print quality so I decided to buy a e3d v6 for direct feed and a direct feed extruder, but I can't figure out how to mount it on my axis? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have checked thingyvers and other sights but to no avail That is not the direct feed version, Thats the version that has the extruder separateby GRAYWOLF - Printing
QuoteDaveOB Once you have the settings just right, and after using it for only a few prints, you'll be wondering how you ever printed without it. This stuff is a total game-changer for printing. I used almost exclusively ABS for over a year and every single print just stuck and it worked as it should every time. This was the best money I ever spent for my printer. My current settings are 230/1by GRAYWOLF - General
I'm curious so I have ordered a sheet in the hope of dumping Kapton tape and ABS.by GRAYWOLF - General

I'm confused... On a Prusa I3, is this used with or without the glass? I ask because the glass has always annoyed me with those stupid clips.by GRAYWOLF - General
Quoteetfrench What design? All Designs. Quoteetfrench Is the round hole problem hardware or software related? I'm holding it down to the fact my X-Axis tensioner was broke. Hijack Alert. UK question Would ABS printed parts bee MOT legal in the engine bay?by GRAYWOLF - Reprappers
Sorry if this has been brought up before. I'm having issues with nut traps not printing clean leaving me with round holes. To use the part and not throw it away, I have used heat pressed brass inserts. M3 Brass threaded press in inserts. This got me thinking, is there a reason why nuts were used in the design instead of Brass inserts?by GRAYWOLF - Reprappers

QuoteDADIY I think IO Maker has their own github site that might be different. Before you embark down the fisher route, unless you have the ability to cut sheet material like acrylic or aluminium you might be better off with the kossel style printer. Fortunately I have the tools and experience for that as well as a limited collection of material.by GRAYWOLF - Fisher
