Hi All,
I printed 3 items yesterday, and each time the print reached about 45mm tall the printer would lock up and Pronterface would show this error on the screen.;

Fill ratio is .6. It prints fine with larger items. Is it too much heat? Would a fan on the item being printed help?

Trying to print this motor mount. The print starts out OK for about the first 3-5 layers then it starts to become flaky or uneven. I'm using ABS with bed temp 110, head 220. Printing on MK1 with glass. Slic3r is writing the code.

Using Marlin, Pronterface. My hot end (j-head IVb) shows 114 degrees C for ambient. It's done this with 2 different hot ends, so I don't think it's the thermister. Any ideas?

General Mendel Topics
A reboot solved the COM5 Port problem but I don't know how to proceed with non-computer printings. Are there any instructions posted anywhere?
Thanks again.

RAMPS Electronics
I'm setting up a Mendelmax 1.5. Running a version of Marlin, Ramps 1.4 and Pronterface. I had everything running correctly, ie; the steppers, proper direction and functioning end-stops. I wanted to check out the SD/LCD components, so I unplugged the ramps board from the printer and the Arduino and soldered in the ramps R2 diode for non-computer running. After plugging in ramps onto the Arduin

I too am having the same issue having switched from Sprinter to Marlin. When I click home it moves and immediately stops. There's no bounce back motion. I noticed in the configuration_adv.h file there is:
//homing hits the endstop, then retracts by this distance, before it tries to slowly bump again:
#define X_HOME_RETRACT_MM 5
#define Y_HOME_RETRACT_MM 5
#define Z_HOME_RETRACT_MM 1
but does

Firmware - mainstream and related support
I'm building a Mendelmax 1.5 3D Printer. I have 18 different parts to be printed in various quantities. I would like natural color ABS as the print material. Are you interested?

Hi All,
Has Slic3r 0.8.4 done away with the transform, scale etc settings?
Found it!

Slic3r
I'm using Slic3r to create my gcode, and Pronterface as my host. Can anyone tell me which parameter I should adjust to eliminate the "crusty buildup" I get. It seems to only happen on the lower layers. I'm running ABS.. Print parameters as follows:
Accuracy:
Layer Height = .3
1st Layer height ratio = 1
Retraction:
Length = 1
Lift = .3
Speed = 30
Extra length on restart = 0
Min travel =

Skeinforge
Printrun-fa08790 (latest) comes with no skeinforge directory and therefore will not produce gcode. I downloaded the latest skeinforge (49_reprap_python_beanshell), loaded it into printrun-fa08790,and renamed it skeinforge. When I load a stl file, it creates a gcode file but without any extruder instructions. What have I done wrong? .....Thanks

Thank you rhmorrison,
When the print starts, the head moves to the center of the printbed very slowly F60. Is there an adjustment for that somewhere?

RepRap Host
The newest Kliment/Printrun e5b0a4f just makes a dead stop after the last gcode is issued. The earlier version returned the head near to home. What do I need to do to activate the latest version to behave like the earlier version?

Hi All,
Is there a way in Pronterface to print a mirror image of an object?

Hi nophead,
Thanks for your response. You were right on with your advice. I used your numbers in the left printing and I went with h/w od .35/.55 with the right printing. I also played with lowerering the bed temp from 110C to 80 C after a few layers were printed. Once the printing of the land in the bearing started, the filament sagged a little so I lowered the head temp from 250C to 220C. Migh

Hi nophead,
I'm running 3mm ABS. My free air filement dia is .46-.47mm dia. out of a .50mm budaschnozzle hot end nozzle ( is that possible?). Pronterface's Settings/SFACT Quick Settings/ Carve is set to .4mm height and .6mm width. The SFACT profile is for PLA. It has no profile for ABS.

RepRap Host
Hi All,
Running Sprinter, Prontaface, Hotend-230C, Bed-110C.
Small parts come out faily decent, taller ones have all these filament bridges in them. How do you recommend I start making changes?
Thanks

Hi All,
I've got my Prusa Mendel running ok with the titled software. Had a bit of a stepper motor heating problem. Needed to put a multimeter on the X-axis, Y- axis and Extruder motors and set the current to 0.5 amps each. I'm using Pololu 1200 steppers. At this setting my heating stays around 45-50 degrees C. The extruder and the heated bed are also working fine. Do I need to load skeinforge

Thanks nophead,
The RAMPS schematic has it going to Vcc. I wonder why they didn't pin it out to the Arduino? Upon looking further, the axis enable pins do continue on to the Arduino. Right on nophead!

Followup,
The one element that is different from my test circuit and the RAMPS circuit is the RAMPS circuit has a 10K resistor from the A4983 Enable pin to Vcc. The spec sheet indicates to enable the device this pin should be either open or low. The 10k resistor seems to hold this pin somewhere in between high and low. Should this resistor be going to gnd and not Vcc? Comments???? When I ins

RAMPS Electronics
Hi All,
I built a small soldering fixture to solder the headers onto the carrier as well as a test circuit to test the stepper in forward and reverse mode. While all test out fine in my test circuit, some, but not all work when installed in the Ultimachine RAMPS 1.4 shield. Anyone else run into this situation? See enclosed Pictures.

RAMPS Electronics
Hi,
I'm a newbie at all this. I built a Prusa Mendel. Using RAMPS 1.4 electronics with a MEGA 2560. I downloaded Arduino 0022 software and Replicatorg. Can anyone point me to a step by step configuration process I can follow to load any required firmware etc? I'm just lost and don't know how to proceed.
Thanks
