Zombie Pants Lol? Wasn't he working with Horsey Spleen Gulp and Smidgen Soap Taffeta?? Excellent news, I'll take a look at your blog too. I found the binaries as soon as I went back to the branch to look, so fingers crossed I'm back in business Thanks againby UkIan - RAMPS Electronics
Yes good point. My original plan was to join the pins with something substantial which would feed a "proper" rated cable. I like the ribbon idea, I've got a set ready for my Mendel 90 build, but I was a bit unsure about some of the more techy aspects. Nophead mentions on his blog (I think, might of been the wiki) that there's a risk of cross talk and various other things that I have no interest iby UkIan - Controllers

That's quite cool actually (no pun intended). I've got a 60X20 fan which has a throughput of 19cfm, but even that didn't feel particularly pushy. I wonder how heavy the motor in a hand held dyson weighs... Probably a lot thinking about it I'm designing a 360 degree duct at the moment, which will go onto the new X carriage I'm (also) designing. I've given up for the time being. I just can't get it to build, and each time I try I get a different set of issues. partly this appears to be down to stuff moving on where my set of instructions has not and me not having the requisite knowledge to figure out what would fix it. The arduino plug in is central to the problems. If you follow the exact steps in the Think3DPrint3D tutorial, the addby UkIan - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Ah ok, I'll give that a try. It hadn't occurred to me it wouldn't support it :/ DC, I've given up on the Duet for the moment. I cannot get the firmware to build at all. Using ramps with either a full graphics controller or SD ramps, the SD card works absolutely fine except for showing the filenames: This SD card has 1 file on it called 1.gcode. Looks like some sort of unicode issue to me, or similar. Anyone experienced this before? I assumed it was Simplify at first, but this screen is taken from Repetier, so it's the firmware sending something that isn't beby UkIan - RAMPS Electronics
So I've been playing with 3d printing since,... summer? I forget. I started with PLA, then switched to ABS a while a go, and just came back to PLA. I had forgotten everything and my first PLA prints made me immediately assume I had duff filament. It wasn't, it was a duff me. So I have some questions: I needed a print fan and as you can see in the picture below I've got a 40mm one funnelling itsby UkIan - General
Gad, 22 dollars for a fan??? Ok, time to turn the garage upside downby UkIan - General
That's the one Ralph Thanks Yep, I stole the picture from the ooznest site. I only knew of these things existence because I had some come with the bulldogs. Not sure what I did with them :/by UkIan - General
It is 45x45x10mm in size with a vent at the bottom from which air is expelled. I've always called them blowers, but that doesn't seem to help my shop for them :/by UkIan - General
QuoteVDX ... some years ago I too had a 'Brother'-printer with refillable cartouches -- but you had to use 'original brand' inks, or the nozzles starts clogging or the printed result in colours wasn't perfect neither They've got a lot better these days. I use 3rd party ink in an a3 photo printer that works well. Quality can be variable, but I find amazon reviews of inks to be quite reliable. Iby UkIan - General
You're over engineering it. Here's my original bulldog lite carriage connected to an e3d hot end. Yes, it's basically a couple of cable ties, and what you can't see is a single M8 washer between the hotend and extruder to make the mounting plate fit If I'd known you needed dimensions, I drew some up myself for both the lite and full fat versions. Yours are much more professionally done thoughby UkIan - Mechanics
Yes, I had a chat with Arc Euro Trade, and I'm thinking about one of the seig mills they have. There's a lot of information on the web about converting them to CNC too, which is nice.by UkIan - CNC Routers, Mills, and Hybrid RepRapping
Ooooooh I see, I assumed QX refered to Qx with x being 1-4 :/ Thank you for clearing that upby UkIan - OpenSCAD
I looked up the Mendel90 wiring, and Nophead uses 6 (3+ve, 3-ve) in case anyone else comes across thisby UkIan - Controllers
Ugh, I have three versions of Eclipse now. Four if you include the version that baeyens provide which is already integrated with the Eclipse plug in. Of these only Juno works with the baeyens plug in (almost). Quick rant; the eclipse naming system is stupid. baeyen (eclipse plug in for arduino) only works with 1.5.7. Yes, I've just tried to solder up a DB15 and it was far from fun, so I think I'm going to go molex shopping tomorrow. I like the compact nature of the DB15, but thinking about it, as I've moved the connection from the X Carriage end, to the point where it mounts to the printer, I don't need it so much now. Thank you for the information though. I was trying to look it up on datasheets on my phoneby UkIan - Controllers
Or conversely how much power can you put through one pin of a db15/db9 socket? Also how much power does a heater capsule use? Never thought to look Taby UkIan - Controllers
Doesn't appear to do anything. The docs give the example: text("OpenSCAD"); which does nothing (expected result is 2d outline of OpenSCAD) Added a linear_extrude to it just in case. Still nothing. Using 2014.03 Cheers Ianby UkIan - OpenSCAD
Two things to check. First is the accelleration and speed settings in (marlin? Is that the firmware you're using?) If it's too high this can cause the skipping you're seeing. Second, check the cog on the X stepper motor is tight and that the belt is tight but not too tight. It should deflect a bit when you press it with your finger, but not too much. When it skips do you notice any change in soby UkIan - General
Perfect, I can work with that Thanksby UkIan - Mendel90
I've got all the bits I need to build a sturdy now, (thanks team Nophead). Is the manual in the dibond directory the same as you'd use for a non-dibond version? I imagine screws are longer (or not) and other things are... different... Cheersby UkIan - Mendel90
QuoteGovahnator I am having the same issue, i just installed my new e3d v6 hot end and i cant get the fan running You are both having two separate issues. The e3d fan that connects to the hot end itself should be on all the time. There is a dedicated pair of pins just below the first stepper driver above the two big fuse things. Yep, now I know I'll add it to my pre-flight checks. It's not so onerous I thinkby UkIan - RAMPS Electronics
And everything is working again. It prints reasonably well generally, but the last month or so I have had SO many issues it has been a bad joke. Here's a picture of the cal.stl from the Mendel90 stls I've just printedby UkIan - RAMPS Electronics
I'll give it a go, I'll also cut the tinning off the current wires to help prolong the life of the new board. I assumed I was doing it a favour by keeping all the strands together in one electrically coherent block, but clearly notby UkIan - RAMPS Electronics
Quotedc42 Perhaps the wires became loose in the connector blocks. What sort of wire did you use? With some types of wire (e.g. stranded copper - especially if twisted together and then tinned), you need to re-tighten the screw terminals at frequent intervals during the first few weeks of use. You can't run a heated bed from D9, because it's on the 12V circuit protected by the 5A polyfuse, and moby UkIan - RAMPS Electronics
Not as far as I can tell. The heated bed has been working fine for months, I've checked the solder points and so on and there's nothing there that's causing a short. The hotend still gets hot, so I've ruled that out. I haven't had anything plugged into D9 in a while, I only know it doesn't work because I thought I'd shift the bed to it so I could print. The actual board looks absolutely fine, itby UkIan - RAMPS Electronics
