My X axis has been inverted since day one... No matter what I have done, I CAN NOT get the DIR to change. (all other axis are correct) My prints face the back of the machine instead of the front... I've tried flipping both settings you posted and wires to the steppers... no change... I gave up! If you find a fix, I'd like to hear about it!! Cheers! Looking at Pic #1 again... it looks like there is some blackening around the top of the heating element. Have you verified your temps? Maybe it was too hot and burnt (and melted) everything? Can you give some more details about your setup?by Mogal - Mendel90
The pics are not that clear, but it looks like the threads were also ripped out? Without a clearer picture, its hard to tell. My first guess is a temp issue. It was too cold, and caused too much back pressure in the extruder causing everything to blowout... What were your temps at the time of the blowout? Hotends is a great source!by Mogal - Mendel90

hey Chris, what would it take to get one of the newer designs there? (Just the piece printed here) Thanks! Here's a couple pics of the printer... Hoping tomorrow I'll have time to tear it apart again... Oh, and thanks a lot for all the tips!by Mogal - RAMPS Electronics
I'll get a picture posted tonight... I just need to figure out whats causing the plugging. Cuz this just isn't working! Print 1 test item, then a plug... (and thats a 20 minute print!) I have the extruder set bang-on for feed, and the multiplier set at 0.8, as it seems to extrude too much. Parimeters are printed at 30mm and innards are printed at 60(going to try 40mm) I'll keep my temps at 175by Mogal - RAMPS Electronics
So does printing too cold cause the plugging?by Mogal - RAMPS Electronics
Update: Its not a blown pololu. Turns out it wasn't hot enough. I had issues with the nozzle plugging. So after some reading, I learned that I was printing too hot for the PLA I have (185 deg) so I lowered the temps. I got to 170, and seemed to be more reliable. Well, this is where the problem is... turns out when the extruder drops below the 170 deg, it stops extruding (due to being too cold) Sby Mogal - RAMPS Electronics
Hey, I have to admit I've given this a break for a bit. It turns out that it is NOT a blown driver at all. I can not pin point the issue at all! When running manually (Repitier) everything works as it should. all axis moves properly, and temps heat up good. I can extract without issue, but as soon as I run any code, that's when it seems like there is cross talk or something in the system...by Mogal - RAMPS Electronics
I made a small video of whats happening... Donno why its doing this, ran perfectly the day before.by Mogal - Reprappers
Well, listening you you guys has paid off. Seems its not the driver after all... When running gcode, everything runs just fine!! No overheating, all power/steps/temps are correct. holding torque is good and strong. As soon as I run gcode, it seems ALL axis are getting a 'stepping' signal of some sort...when one axis is issued a step command (hope that makes sense?) and all power to the steppersby Mogal - Reprappers
No, I didn't bother following through with testing on the second blown pololu, as it showed the exact same signs of failure as the first one. I'm thinking it maybe power spikes from plugging the 12v power in/out?by Mogal - Reprappers
Well, I've got about 1 hour run time on this 3D printer, and have blown 2 pololus. First time it happened.... there was lots of wire changes, configuring, testing.... So maybe some static discharge... Last night I got the printer running again, and got a couple prints off.. A calibration cube, and of course a Yoda. Happy with the prints (with no real calibration yet) I shut the printer down forby Mogal - RAMPS Electronics
I just had the exact same thing happen... Still searching for the culprit. My current/voltage was good, no over heating was happening.by Mogal - Reprappers

Oh, At what temp does PLA start to crytalize? (I have 190c for first layer, and 185c for the rest) (my IR thermometer wont read off the brass for verification) The nozzle has plugged twice with these temps...(fairly quickly - 1/2 hour) I've got a HOTENDZ with a 0.5 nozzle, and some black PLA from the MIXSHOP.by Mogal - General

I can not enable the skirt function (LOOP) I disabled it for one print cuz it gave me a bad loop around the object and now can't re-enable it. I change the number from 0 to 1, click save, and it reverts back to 0. LOOPS: I set to one, but it reverts back to zero. DISTANCE: 6mm HIEGHT: 1 MIN LENGTH: 0mmby Mogal - Slic3r
Hello, How does the 'Dry Run' feature work? I'm in testing stages, and didn't want the extruder heated up... I see that it still warms up to temps, but just doesn't extrude. Is this correct? Is there a way to disable the extruder from heating up so the rest of the machine can go through the motions? Thanks! Chrisby Mogal - Repetier
Well James, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! I didn't have time to print anything last night, But the dry run I did proved that the Z axis willl now move up druring the print!! I had to oversize my 0.35m nozzle to 0.5mm as I could not get the clog out ( But as a noob, maybe it will be better for learnig this eh? Thank you again! Chrisby Mogal - General
I had the same issue on my X axis... Turns out my pololu was bad... switch out the plugs for your X/Y motors (so the X axis is now Y, and Y is now X) and see if the problem follows the axis.by Mogal - Reprappers
