Why are you so upset? You can simply use your favorite software, but why demean the work of people you have not paid for, and that despite any bugs it may have is still a very useful software? your attitude helps no one. Sometimes I use Cura when Slicer does not work, but in general I get very good results with it. What are you trying to print that comes out so wrong? Paucusby paucus - Slic3r
Rather than moan about it, why not post a sample file you are having problems with, an image of how it was generated incorrectly, and a comparison with how kiss slicer or cura or skeinforge does it better/different? then you would be helping to solve this and getting something back for your “hundreds of wasted hours”. Slic3r may not be perfect, but it’s much better than what you or I have writtenby paucus - Slic3r
I understand your dilemma… While we did contribute to Repetier with source code, you still need to make some profit to be able to dedicate so much time to it. Open Source is great but how do you make a living? What if you asked for a voluntary fee from all printer manufacturers that allow/recommend using Repetier, a low fee, maybe $5 or $10 per printer sold? I don’t know if that would be enough,by paucus - Repetier
Can you expand on what is in Slic3r regarding color support? Thanksby paucus - General

I think a number of reprap hobbyists have probably come up with this idea on their own, but the trick is getting it done, not imagining it. Is apple patenting the idea or a specific mechanism? because putting an inkjet to paint objets, and tilting a head so it gets better reach, are not very novel ideas. There are several 3D printing technologies that already use inkjet heads but on powder, to coby paucus - Developers
At Kikai Labs we made a version of Repetier that supports restarting objects, you may want to try it out! http://www.kikailabs.com.ar/web/guest/software (page is in Spanish for now, but info in Github is in English). RAMPS are sensitive to electrical noise, in particular overhead fluorescent lights (turning them on may freeze the board). The other point to check is that you don't have the PC gby paucus - Repetier

inkjet, markers, dyes and powders, but all applied after putting a layer of white plastic... to me that seems like the way that will give the most flexible results. It does depend on plastic adhering between layers, but it should not be a big problem. How do you put the color info in the STL and in the gcode, though? better sw is needed.
If you could inject the ink at the transition zone, that would be ideal, as long as it did not boil and cause the plastic to be extruded violently. You'd have to inject it in very small controlled doses to get any kind of precision. I'm not sure you really need the plastic itself to be colored, you could color the object directly after extrusion. We tested applying magic markers to the object, riby paucus - Developers

We noticed that if you leave the tab showing the current 3D path (the animated printing), Repetier consumes more and more resources and slows down the printing. Use that view briefly, but leave another tab selected, like Temperature, so that the print does not slow down.by paucus - Repetier
